2014 Update:
Updated disclosure statement:
Since my sons have grown, our homeschooling has significantly changed, and so on, the focus of my blog has changed a bit.Initially, did this blog as a way to let friends and relatives know what we were up to with respect to homeschooling. Then, got into doing some educational product reviews as companies approached me and asked for our family's insight as to how they work with respect to homeschooling. We now have moved beyond early childhood / primary elementary products and services and are moving into upper elementary and middle school products and services. Have also started to focus more on materials and programs that work well for gifted children. When the opportunity presents itself to try out a new product or service, or program, or if we are given an opportunity to travel and to then integrate our travel experiences into our homeschooling, we are thrilled!
As a family, we love the following:
Travel (including cruises), hands-on learning &educational experiences (especially those that encourage creativity and higher-order thinking), reading, museums, swimming, outdoor learning, (going to) hockey games, and anything Disney.
Was invited to attend the Disney Youth Programs Media Showcase and received a behind-the-scenes tour of several of their educational programs, so plan to share information related to their programs as they relate to students, from K-12. We had a wonderful time and any thoughts expressed about anything related to Disney Youth Programs, the Walt Disney Company, The Walt Disney World Resort, or any of their other properties are written from the heart and are expressly my own feelings, although think I can add that my family loves Disney as well.
We are open to sharing our experiences related to those areas, although we would be open to other things as well. If you are reading this and are a follower of my blog, please know that my plans for my blog have never been focused around making this blog a huge cash cow. Thoughts expressed are written from the heart by me, by my family, and occasionally, by a guest blogger who might choose to share on Sunrise Learning Lab.
However, offsetting the costs of homeschooling and travel is much appreciated. Thank you for reading my disclosure statement!
