A Big Thank You & Robot Camp

For the first time, Sunrise Learning Lab has a readership of over 1000 people / 1000 unique visits, not including all of the visits I have to do to update the blog or to read comments, etc. in less than one month,
so a VERBIG THANKS to all of you who either follow or subscribe to my blog, as well as to the others who pop by to see what we are doing here in the Sunshine State!
As a thanks, I have a free download*** of one of the robot themed activities we did this week...
ROBOT THEMED TEMPLATES
***Please leave a comment and your email and I will email you this pdf for you to use for classroom or homeschool use.

These can be used for a variety of work, including:
Domino Math Game:
Child places a domino in the center of the robot and then, has to do the math adding the dots on the domino...
Stamping Activity:
Child can stamp his or her name in the center space on the robot.
Letter / Sound Identification:
Make two sets of the robot templates. On one set, you can place a particular letter sound or phonogram and then, on the other you can have picutres of something that contains the letter sound or phonogram...
Upper Case / Lower Case Matching Activity:
Make several copies of the robots template and write the lower case letters on one set and the upper case letters on the other...Then, have your child match these.
Robot Command Cards:
Write an action word for your child to do on each robot, such as jump. spin, hop, wave, etc.

This week, we have been in summer camp mode...robot camp!
Yesterday, our dear friends had us over to do a homeschool day all about robots...everyone, including moms, had a blast! Our friends really went out of their way to make the day a wonderful one...we are so looking forward to getting together with them every Wednesday for the school year, too. The boys made bristlebots from a neat kit. Then, they did all sorts of great hands on activities that Ms. T made for all of the boys...
It has been a fun and busy week, as in addition to robot summer camp, our homeschool co-op open houses and registrations have also been this week.
Here are Big Bro's thoughts about robot week:
Our favorite day was Wednesday, as we went over to do a whole special robot day with our friends. We made robots out of toothbrush tops, small motors, and wires. We designed our own robots and wrote about them. We did robot races through mazes...and did robot sumo wrestling! Plus, we had pizza and got to play! And they had a trampoline! and it rained and we played while it rained because it was not thundering and lightning like it usually does! It was awesome!
Here are Little Bro's thoughts about the week:
We played with the Nerf, we got to hear and watch about robots and have pizza. We made robots and was playing around with them. We got to draw robots and then, we also got to play.
We got to jump and jump on "the trampolino"
It was so fun...everything was great these days and with our friends.

A Giveaway - Mommy Moment

Over at Mommy Moment, they have a giveaway for an iPhone app.
The reason that I am blogging about it here is that I was the guest reviewer for the app because the lovely ladies at Mommy Moment do not have iPhones and I do.
Now, some of you may be asking yourselves " Why in the world would I want an app for a little one on my iPhone"?
Well, this is what I learned...with cold and flu season and having to make frequent visits to the doctor's office, an iPhone app that is designed for little ones is a great idea.
So, here is the part of the blog entry from the fabulous Mommy Moment blog:
This is the review that I wrote for Mommy Moment:

This animated iPhone app is perfect for little ones, ages 3-4.
Animations are very cute, colorful, and appealing to a preschooler.
Very easy for a child to navigate through, and no reading skills are needed to play.
My four year old son enjoyed playing it while we were in the car doing some errands. He also tried it as we were at a restaurant waiting for our order. The game held his attention as we waited.
You need to download the app onto your iPhone from a wireless connection, as the game is 20 MB, so you will need to download it from a wireless connection before you head out to do your shopping, run to the post office, etc.
Where I could really see this game coming in handy would be at a physician's office, urgent care facility, or ER.
So many times, I have been at a doctor's office / ER when I see a child sneeze and then, proceed to play with the toys in the waiting room.
Having your child play on your iPhone with this game would keep their attention but keep them from picking up a toy that has been touched by every other sick child in the room!

There are three choices of hide and seek games:
Jungle, Circus, Ocean.

My son, ranked his adventure preferences:
Jungle and Ocean - tied as his favorites.
The music that accompanies the game makes it a more multi-sensory experience for a child.
Very appealing to a young child who is anxious to make it through the day to day running of errands.-
CMB from Sunrise Learning Lab (a guest reviewer from the Mommy Moment Team).

Awesome Giant has generously offered this iPhone application to (3) readers!

If you would like to WIN the Animal Hide and Seek iPhone application for you or someone you know here is what you have to do...

So please go visit Mommy Moment to get the scoop and to enter the giveaway.

I was not paid for doing the review but I did get a free download to try with my two sons.

Still Need Some of Your Addresses for Your Freebies

Well, finally got all of the Freebies packages into mailing bags and ready to send out, but...still need a few of your addresses.

If you have already sent me yours, thanks.

If not, please do or else I can't send you your goodies!

Hope that you will all like what I am sending you. I went through your wish lists and some of you are gonna be extra happy, as if you had things on there that I had, I popped them in for you.

A couple of you have allergies in your home...I was able to figure that out by reading your blogs...so I tried to be careful as to what I sent you.

I have not sent you the pdfs yet, as we have had an incredibly busy week here, but promise to get them to you ASAP.
Will also post some photos of what you are getting as soon as everyone gives me their addresses...again,Freebie Winners, send yours to me at cmbmomof2@yahoo.com

Well, happy Saturday!

Kids are Wiped Out So I Will Do the Drawing Tomorrow.

Hello,
In case you want some freebies, you'll have a little extra time to get some, b/c Little Bro and Big Bro are so tired that we have to go to bed now...Mommy is pretty tired, too.

But so far, since the comments came from Heidi, Amber, and Marsha, all three of you are going to get something, as i have more than three things to give away.

If others enter, I will see how many and put them into a drawing...

So, will post photos tomorrow. Please tell people so that I can get a clutter free home and you can get something nice, educational / arts and crafts, etc.

Also, Jody will get something too, as she is the birthday girl today, and is on vacation...so we have four winners already:)

Have a nice one!

First Day of School Freebies:)

Well, since we officially started our school year, I thought that it would be nice to have some freebies.
So, here's what you need to do...please share one of your favorite childhood memories of school, be it homeschool, private school, public school, VBS, etc. in the comments section of my blog.
I will see how many people comment and then, decide how many things to give away today.
The more that enter, the more I will give away (well, to a point...just the stuff I have ready to give away).
I mostly have things for ages 0-3 and 3-6. I have a few things for kids older than 6, but not too many...sorry!
But included in my bag of goodies are some cute fabric scraps that would be perfect for a quilt or for some classroom literacy bags, etc. Also have some folder games, books, and other goodies.

The only thing I would do is to check how much it will cost to your specific area...I may need for you to pay for your own shipping, depending on how big or heavy the item is...
