Please Go Do This: Watch the Video Clip & Read the Post at A Diary of a Mom...

Well, last night, I started to work on writing and uploading some posts with respect to some Thanksgiving fun we had as a family in Chicago...
found out that I somehow have once again maxed out my allotted 1GB of memory with Picasa and Google, so I  had to upgrade and will now have 20 GB for photos...frustrating, but by tomorrow, I will hopefully be able to get some new posts with photos uploaded...
So, then, I went to my email box and did what I do each and every morning...I read the blog post from A Diary of a Mom.

A while back, when I was surfing through the world of blogginess, I happened to come across a blog called A Diary of a Mom.

This blog is powerful, frank, and hopeful and I implore you to go and check out her post today, to first watch the video she has linked at the very top of the post and then, read her post. Warning: the video is a bit of a tear jerker.

Then, when you read Jess' post, you will feel so hopeful for all of those individuals who have developmental challenges. You will want to see things move in the right direction for inclusiveness, inclusion, and  the efforts that are being made for inclusive school week.

Know that it sounds a bit odd when we homeschool to go read something about the efforts made towards inclusive school week in public schools, but maybe the only way that things will really change is if more people, both from within the public school setting and outside of the public school setting, come to see the importance of inclusion rather than exclusion which leads to isolation. Maybe it will help those of us in homeschool co ops to reflect upon inclusion as well, although virtually every homeschool co-op we are involved with is already very into inclusion.

Well, have a happy weekend and hope that everyone will think about how to reach out and be more inclusive to others, whether you are homeschooling or in a public, private, or umbrella school.

thank you so very much for sharing this! and i couldn't agree more that the push toward inclusion has to happen from ALL angles- particularly inside the very institutions that tend to be the LEAST inclusive :)!

have a wonderful weekend!
