Space Themed Fun in honor of the Endeavour Launch this Morning!

Since today was the launch of Endeavour Launch STS 134, thought that many of you might enjoy these neat space themed photos and links:

Here are some photos from today of Big Bro and Little Bro dressed as astronauts:

NASA HD-TV thru UStream

NASA Kids' Club
there are some really fun activities on this website for children. What makes them nice is that they are interactive, multi-subject, and multi-level. The levels listed are from 1 to 5 but the levels do not seem to correlate with the grades (Little Bro, who is 5, was able to do Levels 1 and 2 and Big Bro, age 7,  did levels 3, 4, and 5).

Fun Space Themed Newsletters from Kids Craft Weekly

This is the main index. Please check out this fabulous website and sign to receive Amber's awesome free newsletters. Newsletters 38 and 90 have to do with space. You can do a search by newsletter number or by theme and these will pop up for you. They are so fun and offer a great way to compare and contrast real versus make believe with respect to space. I subscribe and am so happy that I do, because so many times, I have found awesome resources to use for a theme we were studying
(so a big big thanks to Amber!)

If you go to Homeschool Share, there is an awesome space lapbook!

Go to their website with this link.

Then, do a search for the keyword "space" and you will see a direct link to their Space Lapbook

The lapbook was created by a cadre of very talented ladies:
Planet research and minit books contribued by Kelly Ward
Other lapbook templates by Kris Doyle, and Ami
Other research contributed by Shannon Cook and Rachel Harris

We watched the launch today. We were hoping to get a glimpse of the contrails like we have seen for three other launches since we have lived here in the Sunshine State, but no such luck.

We did however have an awesome time watching the launch and doing hands on space themed activities.

It is always fun to take current events or current interests of your children and run with them and do thematic activities.

Whether you prefer Montessori works, Reggio Emilia projects, Sue Patrick Workboxes, or Chalotte Mason Nature Studies / Lapbooks / Notebooks, you can tie in so many different themes into your preferred method of homeschooling or classroom teaching.
Well, hope that you find these links to be helpful!

I don't twitter yet, but I sure do love your post here. My son is so into space right now and it makes me want to follow his interest more. But, right now I am on "basics" mode, just trying to get work, the house and - yes, the kids into shape a bit more. (Been having some major challenges with the whole kiddo nueropysch thing)
