Day 12: Exploring Disney Animation History #DisneyYouth #Gifted #Write31Days

Today is Day 12 out of a 31 Days Series on Disney Youth Programs and how they are a great fit for gifted learners.
The focus for today is about Exploring Disney Animation History.
Today’s class description comes right from Disney Youth (as this is a class that I did not get to experience first-hand, but think that it sounds like it would be fabulous):

Enroll in the Animation Academy, birthplace of many Disney animated feature films, to discover the innovative animation processes Walt Disney developed that changed the way stories were told and brought beloved characters to life. During this 3-hour program students in grades 3-12 will learn how to sketch a famous Disney character, experiment with early production processes and develop their storytelling skills.
Students learn the artistic and technical sides in the process of animation when they plan and design their own animated storyboard.
Key Learning Points
During this interactive field study, students will:
  • Articulate the various elements of the animation process.
  • Demonstrate storyboarding and pitch their story to the group.
  • Draw a Disney character using simple geometric shapes.
  • Describe the physical phenomenon of persistence of vision.
  • Calculate the number of frames needed to produce a 60-minute animated film.
  • Create their own simple animation by making a kineograph.
  • Discuss Walt Disney's role as a leader and innovator in the animation and entertainment industries.
  • Understand how the characteristics of media, techniques and processes can be used to enhance the communication of experiences and ideas.
Exploring DisneyAnimation History seems as if it would truly inspire students to develop both their convergent and divergent thinking.
Always loved learning about Walt Disney as a child.
Actually wrote several reports about Walt Disney during my childhood.
Generally, when we took a family trip during school time, we would write about something that we learned while we were on vacation so time and time again, I would find things to share about Florida, Walt Disney World, Magic Kingdom, and Walt Disney.

As an adult, my interest in learning about Walt Disney and his role as innovator in both the entertainment and animation industries has grown.
Would absolutely LOVE for my sons and our family to attend Exploring DisneyAnimation History along with other families from our Sunrise Learning Lab program.
It really sounds like it would be fantastic!

What are your thoughts about Exploring Disney Animation?
Have you attended this program?
If you attended Exploring Disney Animation, what did you take away from this experience?
Would love to hear from those who have already experienced this class!
If you have not read posts 1-11 yet and wish to do so, here is a link to the kick-off post that has hyperlinks to all of those posts.

Please be sure to check out about the Create It! Contest!
Some great Disney-themed prize packs are going to be given to the winners!!!
