This post assumes that you have read posts #1-5 in this Write 31 Days Series about Disney Youth Programs.
If you have not read posts #1-5, here are links to those posts:
Day 1: Kick-Off, Overview, Resources
Day 2: Parent & Student Involvement
Day 3: Grant Proposals
Day 4: Create It! Contest
(The Create It! Contest runs through October 24, 2014, so please be sure to check out the details.)
Day 5: Fundraising Ideas
Day 6 is more of a request for a group discussion...if you have coordinated a field trip, especially if your group has attended a Disney Youth Program as a field trip, would love to hear how your group handled the following:
If you have coordinated field trips for your homeschool, club, or school group, how has your group handled payment?
Did you find how your group handled payment for the trips to work out well for your group?
Did your group make it more affordable to attend a field trip by offering to have a sliding scale where those who could not pay for the entire price of the field trip were offered a sliding scale where generous donors paid the remainder of the price for these particular individuals?
What about scholarships? Did your group ever take a field trip where scholarships were involved?
If you have been to one of the many wonderful Disney Youth Programs, did you make any customized forms for your group?
Would love to hear from you!
I was invited to attend a Disney Youth Programs Media Showcase. We met with various Disney cast members and got to have a behind-the-scenes-look at what the Disney Youth Programs have to offer. In addition, my family also got to come to Disney and have an amazing time!
***All of the opinions about attending the Disney Media Showcase and about the Disney Youth Programs as well as spending time at the various Disney Properties are my own. I have been sharing from the heart and will continue to do so, as it really was a delightful experience that left a wonderful impression!***
As we were finding out more about everything the Disney Youth Programs have to offer, it became clear that Disney Youth Programs would be great for us to bring students who are part of our Sunrise Learning Lab program to attend several of the offerings, as the classes really appeal to a variety of ages and learning styles and abilities.
Since our Sunrise Learning Lab Program is geared towards gifted learners, that has been my focus for this Write 31 Days Series.
But it also occurred to me how great it would be to expand our group from the students who come to be part of our Sunrise Learning Lab to a bigger group that would include our homeschool co-op.
My niece and nephew both had the privilege to attend a Disney Youth Program through their charter school in North Carolina. They attended the program at different times during different school years. But the common thing is that they both had an awesome time!
Seeing it first hand though made me even more excited about coordinating a group to come to Disney for an educational experience like no other.
So, if you have been there, done that...with your particular group, would love to hear how things went, and how you handled any of the questions I have asked in this post, or anything else at all that you wish to share.
Please leave a comment and if you wish to leave contact information, would love to hear from you!
If your group took photos, made any presentations, did any post-trip tie-ins, or if you took any YouTube videos during your Disney Youth Program experience, would love it if you would be willing to share.
And don't forget to look at the Create It! Contest...will be sharing details about the prize packs later this week, so hope that you will take a peek at the post that gives all of the "contest deets"...
