Great day for Little Bro! Went to co-op art class and painted another beautiful painting... worked on color mixing and using a variety of textures...sand, glitter, confetti are all in the paint mixture.
Daddy got home fairly early, so he helped Little Bro with his last work of the day, a new puzzle.

Little Bro enjoyed feeding the sharks (adding beads to shark's mouth with spoon).
Little Bro also liked doing the knobless cylinders work.
As usual, Little Bro got right to it and started out doing his morning work in his pajamas.This is the work he had chosen for himself the night before...also, one of his favorites, another stackable tower.
This one has numbers and items to count as you stack.
Selecting "first morning work" the night before REALLY works well for us!
If you are homeschooling and using the Montessori Method and Montessori inspired materials in your home, I encourage you to give this a try...makes a huge difference in setting the tone for the day.

I was just reading an article yesterday in Montessori Life magazine called, "That's NOT Montessori". The author was sharing how often he heard the phrase "That's not Montessori" when he was teaching in his first Montessori school. He notes how each classroom has their own version of normalization based on their routines. In some classrooms, students come right in and select a work and begin to work. In other classrooms, the day is started with a meeting or gathering of some sort. The author's question is, "Is one more Montessori than another?" His conclusion was no, they both represented different systems that work better for different classrooms and groups of students. His point was more fleshed out obviously, but this section was brought to my mind when I read your post.
I guess my point is that I'm glad you have found a unique way to start your morning that is working well for your family! Your children and you each know what to expect and thus would be what Montessori referred to as normalized!
My normalized children have a totally different morning routine, but it works well for them!

So interesting that you commented on this, as just last night, I started reading this woman's doctoral dissertation on the Montessori Method and to the extent that people actually apply it both in the classroom and in the home.
I have her paper bookmarked and plan to really read it thoroughly while the kids and I are en route to PA in a few weeks.
It is something like 169 pages...so will hopefully get it read on our long flight.
