The focus for today is a neat program that will hopefully get students to really think before acting:
Managing Your Personal Brand.
Middle school and high school is an ideal time for students to think about the impressions that they make on social media. That is the generally the age range when kids start to use cell phones and have their own social media presence. It is when Think Before You Act becomes key.
Would love for my sons to attend when they are in the appropriate grade range for this program!

This 3-hour field study aims to help students in grades 6-9 become self-aware, self-disciplined and self‐motivated to increase their potential for becoming future leaders. Your group will learn that their choices tell their personal story and that they have the power to control their image. They will come to understand how to project a positive image, build their skill set through the collection of experience and apply them to leading others.
Key Learning Points
During this interactive field study, students will:
- Realize that determining a career path and achieving career goals take planning and preparation and that each person is in control of his or her destiny.
- Acknowledge that skill and passion for work equates to a higher level of success and satisfaction.
- Learn that experience builds skill, and that these skills have broad applications in a variety of settings and situations, including career and leadership development.
- Examine the unpredictable nature of the future and learn how they can navigate the ups and downs that occur along their chosen path.
- Discuss the risks and rewards of personal publishing through social media and the Internet, and the role it plays in self-marketing.
- Be inspired and challenged to develop their skills, discover who they are, chart a course for the future and believe in their ability to succeed.
- Harness the power of personal appearance and learn what it says about who they are and what they value.
