Day 27: Everyday Chemistry & Some Frozen Fun! #DisneyYouth #Gifted #Write31Days

Today is Day 27 out of 31 in my #DisneyYouth #Gifted #Write 31Days Series.
The time has surely flown by!
Hard to believe that in just a few days, we will have cute lil' trick-or-treaters at our front door.
Speaking of trick-or-treat night, did you see the awesome Halloween themed contest that Disney is having called Show Your Disney Side - Haunt Your Disney Side?
Here is the description that they give about it, along with a link to the contest:
There are 999 happy haunts at Haunted Mansion®, but there's always room for one more… family!
Share your frightfully fun Disney Parks-inspired Halloween photos and you could win a private Midnight party at the Haunted Mansion®for you and 3 guests, followed by a spooky overnight stay at Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World® Resort!*  Hope that you will all enter! If you win, hope that you will share some photos of your stay at Cinderella's castle!

(Source: DisneySideContest.com) Yes, it is indeed getting late and I am just getting around to getting today's post typed.
Have a good reason: spent much of the day creating one of the prizes for the Create It! Contest Disney themed prize pack.
Wanna get a sneak peak?
Here is a little glimpse. Still have some finishing touches to do, but it is nearly completed.
It was a blast working on it, as I love to paint and to do art projects!
Hopefully, the winner will enjoy this Frozen painting as much as I did making it!
For today's #DisneyYouth #Gifted #Write31Days Series, want to share about Everyday Chemistry 101 and
Everyday Chemistry 201.
Both are perfect for gifted students, as the courses address higher order thinking and experiential learning. Although it is not mentioned in the course descriptions for either of these programs that they align with the NAGC National Gifted Programming Standards,  when you review the overviews of the programs and when your consider that they were developed in conjunction with the Education Division of the American Chemical Society, you can be pretty much guaranteed that the level of material is advanced. Plus, because Disney Youth employs highly educated, extremely passionate people to be part of their educational team, the Educators / Cast Members are very capable in their ability to properly differentiate for product, content and process. Since these programs are designed to be experiential, the products will vary from person to person as far as complexity and support will be properly given so that every student who attends will be given the opportunity to succeed and to grow in their overall knowledge of chemistry.
These two programs cover Grades 4-9 and are offered at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Here are the highlights of Everyday Chemistry 101:
Program Overview
Students in grades 4-5 will travel through Futureworld to identify elements of the Periodic Table, study polymers, and see chemical reactions happening all around them. In this 3 hour academic adventure a visit to Mission: Space® will help uncover the relationship between chemistry, space exploration and technology. This program was developed in conjunction with the Education Division of the American Chemical Society. Key Learning Points
During this interactive field study, students will:

  • Learn the properties of elements, how they react with one another, and how different combinations can create substances for a variety of uses
  • Learn that chemistry is happening around us all the time.
  • Learn that everything in the world, whether natural or human-made, is composed of one or more of about 100 elements
  • Are introduced to the versatile elements of hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen
  • At Ellen's Energy Adventure attraction, students gain knowledge of the interconnectivity of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen in the formation of energy that keeps us moving, working, and playing.
  • Learn the role of photosynthesis in their everyday lives
  • Understand the chemical make-up of objects
  • Gain an appreciation of fossil fuels as a limited resource
  • Construct a model of a polymer
  • Discover three classifications of polymers
  • Will discover that chemistry can aid in producing substitutes for limited resources, reduce Waste, and improve efficiency
  • Examine how chemistry is at work for humankind everyday
  • Are introduced to solar energy as an alternative to fossil fuels
